Rhian Symes
I live and work in the Brecon Beacons and started painting about 20 years ago. Watercolour was new to me & although I did a foundation course in Newport Art College 40 years ago, the only watercolour paint I had used was for technical drawing.

I like to walk down to my local canal armed with walking stick and camera , and I love the wildfowl, but the reflection they make excites me more.
I use the photos I take of water reflection, and the changing colourful seasons to create my original style.
I love bright colours and water movement, with details of fur or feather.
I started exhibiting my work in my local area then slowly progressed to larger exhibitions.
I am a regular exhibitor at The National Exhibition of Wildlife and I won two watercolour awards at the Nature in Art Exhibition with Wildlife Artists International.

In 2008 I was elected a member of the Royal Watercolour Society of Wales and I have exhibited with the Society regularly.

In 2013 I was short listed for artist of the year by Artist & Illustrators magazine, and my work was exhibited in the Mall Galleries in London.

My work is on display throughout the year iat the Oriel Cric Gallery in Crickhowell.

I paint only about 6 watercolour paintings a year and they take about 6-7 weeks, so originals are always in limited supply but I do produce limited edition prints of some of my work.

Enquires about my work are always welcome.
